Psalm 139 is one of those passages worth returning to again and again, especially when you’re struggling to believe how precious you are to God.

You were not created by accident. God intentionally designed every detail of your life. Just as every flower is uniquely beautiful, so are you. No one else has your personality, your gifts, your experiences, or your God-given calling.

Yet many of us wrestle with feelings of inadequacy and wonder if we truly matter. If that’s where you are today, slowly read through Psalm 139. Notice how carefully God formed you in your mother’s womb. He saw you before anyone else did. He knows every detail about you—your strengths, weaknesses, joys, fears, and struggles—and He loves you completely.

David’s response was praise. He recognized that God’s workmanship is marvelous and that he was fearfully and wonderfully made. The same is true for you.

But David didn’t stop with praise. He ended this beautiful psalm with a humble prayer:

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23–24)

Those words are an invitation for God to do His transforming work within us. Sometimes we’re unaware of hidden fears, sinful attitudes, or misplaced priorities. In His love, God gently reveals what needs to change—not to condemn us, but to make us more like Christ.

Today, thank God for creating you with purpose and intention. Praise Him because you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Then invite Him to search your heart, shape your character, and faithfully lead you in His everlasting way.

David wasn’t having an easy time. His life was filled with trials, enemies, and heartache. Have you been there too?

Yet despite everything he faced, David made a choice. He chose joy.

Some mornings I wake up feeling melancholy for no reason I can identify. In those moments, I have a decision to make. I can revisit old hurts and reasons to grieve, or I can choose to be joyful in the Lord.

I have children who are not following the Lord. If I dwell only on that, discouragement quickly creeps in. Instead, like David, I choose joy. Joy isn’t pretending everything is perfect.

This month I’m drawing flowers each day as a reminder to cultivate the joy of the Lord. Just as David encouraged himself in the Lord, I want to encourage my own heart by remembering God’s faithfulness, His unfailing love, and the salvation He has so graciously given me.

Today’s flowers were sketched in pencil, colored with Arteza watercolor pencils activated with water, and finished with Prismacolor pencils to highlight the Scripture I copied.

I love that God never asks us to pretend we’re okay.

He invites us to come honestly—with our tears, questions, disappointments, and fears. Prayer isn’t about having the right words; it’s about bringing our real hearts to a merciful Savior.

I’ve learned that tears offered to Jesus are never wasted. They often become the beginning of healing. There is something deeply comforting about finding a quiet place, opening God’s Word, and allowing your heart to rest in His presence.

If today feels especially heavy, remember this: God’s mercy is greater than your deepest despair. He sees every tear, hears every whispered prayer, and promises never to leave you.

Take a few quiet moments today to read all of Psalm 31. As you journal, write down one burden you’ve been carrying and intentionally place it into the Lord’s hands. Then thank Him for His mercy—even before you see the answer.

His mercy is enough for today.

After Peter denied Jesus three times, he must have carried the weight of failure and regret.

Yet after His resurrection, Jesus lovingly restored Peter by asking him three times, “Do you love Me?” It was not a conversation of condemnation but one of grace and calling.

Each time Peter affirmed his love, Jesus responded, “Feed My sheep.” Jesus did not define Peter by his past mistakes but by his future purpose.

Living Led by Jesus means loving Him first and following wherever He leads.

We may stumble, fail, or feel unworthy, but His grace restores us and calls us to serve others with the love we have received.

Our thoughts have a powerful influence over our hearts, attitudes, and actions. When fear, worry, or negativity begin to fill our minds, God gently redirects us to think on what is true, noble, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy.

Paul doesn’t simply tell us to know these things; he tells us to DO them.

Living led by Jesus requires both a transformed mind and obedient steps.

As we meditate on God’s truth and put His Word into practice, we experience His presence in a deeper way.
